On Friday, November 22, 2024, students from the Labor Economics course at the IUS Faculty of Business and Administration (FBA), accompanied by Assistant Professor Dr. Azra Bičo, attended a screening of the documentary film "Blum – Masters of Their Own Destiny" by renowned Bosnian director Jasmila Žbanić.
The film explores Emerik Blum’s self-management business model in a post-war economic context, making it an ideal case study for the course. Blum’s innovative approach to worker self-management offers a distinctive perspective on labor relations, organizational structures, and economic resilience.
Following the film, students are tasked with writing a review analyzing Blum’s self-management model within the broader framework of labor economics. They will evaluate its benefits and limitations, focusing on its implications for economic performance and social equity.
The students’ enthusiasm for these forward-thinking concepts has been evident, with the class eager to further explore and critically assess the ideas presented in the documentary.
