ELS Instructors attended 15th ELTA (English Language Teachers’ Association) Serbia Conference

Nine English language instructors from IUS - English Language School (Amra Ćemo, Anida Kovačević, Elma Šahbegović, Đana Merčep, Majda Altumbabić, Mehtap Özer-Isović, Sibela Beširević, Velida Handžić-Mirica, and Vesna Suljić) attended the 15th ELTA (English Language Teachers’ Association) Serbia Conference which was organized on 19-20 May 2017 at Singidunum University in Belgrade, Serbia.

The conference theme was AWAKEN YOUR CURIOSITY so most plenary sessions as well as workshops were motivational talks with many hands-on activities which could be used in classrooms with students of different learning abilities, levels, or interests. The Conference had seven plenary sessions and more than seventy presentations, workshops, talks and promotional activities carried out by representatives of publishing companies, sponsors and partner associations from Serbia and abroad. Plenary speakers were distinguished professionals with international reputation, including Marjorie Rosenberg, the current vice-president of IATEFL (International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language), who is also a prolific author working for several publishing companies which publish books and textbooks for teachers and learners of English (such as Cambridge University Press, Pearson, Cengage or Macmillan).

Mike Mayor, the Director of GSE (Global Scale of English) at Pearson was also among the plenary speakers, as well as Julie Wallis, the director of the London School in Thiene, Italy, who is also serving as an inspector for both AISLi and EAQUALS.
