The youngest and best IT technology enthusiasts at IUS

The Junior Balkanijada in Informatics (JBOI2012) which was previously held in Ohrid in Macedonia where our competitor Adnan Brđanin won the bronze medal, the representatives of the Association "Informatics Olympiad in BiH" organized the preparations for the youngest junior-competitors, the best pupils of elementary schools in Informatics to represent Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Balkan Informatic Olympics, scheduled to be held in Belgrade from 23rd to 28th June 2014.

The preparations for this year’s Olympics were held in University premises in computer labs of the IUS Research Center. Four best student-competitors from primary schools in BiH, Muamer Parić, Tarik Ruzdić, Dragan Raseta and Marko Pezer worked very hard and gave their best to resolve the hardest tasks intended for their age, and learn new techniques and algorithms. They stated to be ready for the Junior Balkanijada of Informatics in Belgrade and they traveled to the capital city of Serbia, where they expect good results.

Teachers with whom they worked intensively were: Azra Avdić, Dženan Zukić, Armin Asimović, Rijad Muminović and Nada Vasiljević under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Haris Gavranović from IUS who is also the President of the Association "Informatics Olympiad in BiH". The prerequisite for qualification and access to competitions is supervision and regular work with students on preparing them for these competitions. This year, 150 pupils attended the preparatory and instructive classes in Visoko, Zenica and Sarajevo, organized by the Association from February to May of 2014.

During the following week, the the top 6 student competitors from all Bosnia and Herzegovina will be prepared for the world’s and Balkans Olympics in Informatics. The host of these preparations will be International University of Sarajevo (IUS) and students who are not from Sarajevo will have accommodation in the dorm located within the IUS Campus.
