Knowledge Exchange between Academia and Industry: The case of the Creativeworks London project
On Friday, March 11, 2016, Dr Mariza Dima from the Queen Mary University of London presented the Creative Works London project to the interested IUS academic and administrative staff. Funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC), Creative works London’s aim is to bring researchers, creative entrepreneurs and businesses together to explore the issues that impact on London’s creative economy (http://www.creativeworkslondon.org.uk/). Led by Queen Mary University of London and in partnership with thirty-eight London-based universities, colleges, museums, libraries and archives, the project has been supporting collaborative research and innovative knowledge exchange for three years and has generated substantial and very useful knowledge for SMEs in the creative economy, policy makers, and academic researchers.
Dr. Dima described the model of Knowledge Exchange (KE), a framework to support cross sector collaborations between Universities, Industries and Organizations with a research aspect, drawing on the benefits of the model to seed cutting edge research and development which can lead to innovation as have been recorded for the past few years. Led primarily by Universities, this model has been used successfully in the UK to fuse important research connected to the industry.
