Prosecution Office of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) in cooperation with the Outreach program of the ICTY announced the names of winners of university students from the former Yugoslavia who participated in the competition for the best art work on the topic of justice and accountability in the context of sexual violence committed in war. Amanda Bešić won first place, while second place went to Muhammet Suiçmez. Both winners are students of the Visual Arts and Visual Communications Design (VACD) Program of the International University of Sarajevo (IUS). The students presented their works through the concept of justice and accountability in the context of wartime sexual violence. VACD students participated in the competition as part of the spring semester course Design Studio 2, taught in academic 2014/2015 year.

Selected works will be published in the forthcoming edition and shown during the book launch which talks about the experiences of the Prosecutor's Office in the prosecution of crimes of sexual violence committed during the conflict in the former Yugoslavia. In particular, this book will present an overview of the achievements and challenges the Prosecutor's Office is facing, as well as the lessons learned during the investigation and prosecution of crimes of sexual violence before the Tribunal. Sincere congratulations to Amanda Bešić and Muhammet Suiçmez for their success. The success of our students is just one step ahead in proving the commitment and work of the quality education offered by IUS.
