Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Akdag Visited IUS

Deputy Prime Minister of Republic of Turkey, Recep Akdag arrived to Sarajevo last night, and shortly upon arrival came to the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) where he met with the management and students of the University.

“This university was established as a waqf and that is very important. This sets a good example for the others. It is a project of Turkish business people, which will surely be an example for the others”,  said Akdag.

Rector of International University of Sarajevo Dr. T. Erkan Türe spoke about activities that are conducted at this university.

He reminded that IUS is currently educating around 1,800 students from 56 counties.

“Our university offers life changing opportunities not only to students from Bosnia and Herzegovina and from Turkey, but also to students from all over the world. We offer them an opportunity to study in a multicultural and multi-religious Sarajevo which also has a special historical significance.”

Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Recep Akdag will today attend the session of Joint economic committee between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Turkey.

As stated by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH, the goal of fifth session of this joint committee will be to examine progress in cooperation in trade and investment, agriculture, energy, tourism and transport. In the session, the significant and unused potentials of these two countries will be also considered, with the focus on stimulating the cooperation in sense of investments.

Prior to this session, the bilateral meeting will be held between Akdag and Mirko Šarović, BiH minister of foreign trade and economic relations.

Akdag’s visit to Mostar is also planned as part of his visit to Bosnia.
