Students of IUS Organized an Event Dedicated to the "City Day" of Sarajevo

On Wednesday, 6th of April, 2016, IUS students organized an event dedicated to the anniversary of "City Day"  of Sarajevo which was under the longest siege in the modern warfare. President of Student Parliament of IUS Nedžla Greda and President of Performance student club Mirza Rastoder performed a musical-drama performance to auditorium in IUS main amphitheatre. By singing songs, showing videos, reciting famous verses which are related to Sarajevo, they presented the most important information about history of Sarajevo from Ottoman Empire until today.

“By reciting famous verses and presenting stories we wanted to describe and tell the stories about citizens of Sarajevo from different periods. Also, we wanted to show that Sarajevo was always rising from the ashes and building again”, organizers said.

Major of the Municipality of Stari Grad Mr. Ibrahim Hadžibajrić attented the event and gave interesting and educational speech to students related to the last war in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Mr. Hadžibajrić, from his personal perspective, emphasized the most important events from Sarajevo before the war, but also from the 1425 days of the Sarajevo siege. Mr. Hadžibajrić met with the IUS rector Prof. Dr. Yücel Oğurlu and other members of administration. EMSA choir participated in student performance by singing songs which are dedicated to Sarajevo, but also traditional Bosnian songs called sevdalinke.
