Students of "Isa-beg Ishaković" Elementary and “Maarif Koledž” Grammar among Few that Use Smart Boards

Students of First Private Primary School "Isa-beg Ishaković" and grammar school “Maarif Koledž”  in Sarajevo started to engage in lessons by using smart and interactive boards, and these educational institutions are among first in Bosnia and Herzegovina that have equipped all classrooms with smart boards.

Smart boards, who were for schools provided by Foundation for Education Development Sarajevo (SEDEF), have for a goal to improve the quality of teaching and education in general.

Apart from making learning process easier in different ways, smart boards enable screening of videos and photos in quality resolution, an can be used in a simple way for the delivery of contents found on the internet.

At the elementary school, they say that the technology will greatly contribute to a better quality education.

Principal of "Isa-beg Ishaković" primary Nezira Popovac stated that all smartboards have their projectors and computers, but that they did not lose their primary function, that is, that students and teachers can still write on them.

“This is the new board technology. On them, there are programs installed for every subject, so every teacher has their password which enables them to use it”, said principal Popovac.

Among the most important qualities of the smart board is that it is practical and as such useful for children, said principal Popovac, and that students will be able to use them to be involved in preparation of certain class topics.
“Our goal is to get children think critically to develop conclusions, and make teacher become just the leader in the process. We know that children today know how to use technology, and these smart boards are therefore going to be very useful for innovation, work with children, using of new methods”, said the principal, whilst also adding that that educational institution is among first in BiH to have smart boards.

Apart form elementary school, smart boards are also used by students of  grammar school "Maarif Koledž", which is also part of SEDEF.

"Maarif Koledž" grammar school principal Mubera Halilčević reminded that this school started to work in September this year, where one class was founded. She also pointed out that it is important to equip the classrooms with modern technology.

“The project of supplying school with smart boards will facilitate for the interactive education, introduction to multimedia content, which will enable creative, dynamic and flexible education. Apart from that, there will be a significant impact to a better quality education from the point of view of students and teachers both”, said principal Mubera Halilčević

Foundation for Education Development Sarajevo has completed the hierarchy of its educational system and offers education from the nursery to the higher education stages, by running “Kid IUS” kindergarten, “Isa-beg Ishaković” elementary school, International University of Sarajevo (IUS), and the recently founded high school “Maarif Koledž”.
