Spring 2020 Online Lecture Activities

The outbreak of COVID-19 and all necessary national measures taken to tackle the spread of the virus caused significant disruption to the provision of education, training and mobility opportunities for learners, teachers and educators across the globe. As the corona virus spread, universities and schools were instructed to close campuses and empty dorms.

As a result, education has changed dramatically, with the distinctive rise of online learning, whereby teaching is undertaken on digital platforms for the rest of the spring semester.
In the case of International University of Sarajevo, moving from in class to online learning was more than replicating face-to-face learning online. It was about understanding how to mobilize and best engage with the students, it was about generating a sense of community and collaboration and it was an opportunity to work differently and make use of different opportunities.

Furthermore, it was yet another chance to show why IUS ranks number one and stands for leading higher education institution in Bosnia and Herzegovina. We are pleased to stress out the fact that IUS was the first university to completely move teaching online with great success. Microsoft Team was the main platform used to conduct online teaching. Microsoft Teams, is a unified communication and collaboration platform that combines persistent workplace chat, video meetings, file storage (including collaboration on files), and application integration.

We are proud to say that during Spring 2020 Semester our academic staff carried out 23 669 Group Chat Messages, 87 258 Private Chat Messages, 2 689 Calls and 3 904 Meetings online. On the other hand our students carried out 83 628 Group Chat Messages, 306 364 Private Chat Messages, 3 385 Calls and 31 843 Meetings via Teams platform
Concerning the urgent measures and how rapidly things were changing during the pandemic, we are more than proud to our institution’s collective positive attitude and engagement towards enabling the online learning process to start as quickly as possible.

Therefore, we use this opportunity to thank and congratulate our academic and administrative staff for doing a great job and serving our students in the best possible way.
