Round Table 6 – 2013 Census in BiH

Round Table 6 – 2013 Census in BiH

On Friday, 22nd of January 2016, the Balkan Studies Center (BSC) organized the Round Table 6: "The Last Census held in 2013 in Bosnia and Herzegovina" in the Senate Room in the International University of Sarajevo (IUS). This Round Table was attended by the Rector of IUS, Prof. Dr. Yücel Oğurlu who expressed his opinion regarding this topic. Participants had an opportunity to discuss and analyze the distribution of ethnic groups as it is known to them roughly (since the population census was based on ethnicity). Also, they expressed their views on the reasons why the census results have not yet been declared officially, although the census was held in 2013. In this context various factors like political considerations as well as the methodology of the census were discussed.  Finally, the participants dwelled on major impact and implications of the census in terms of political legitimacy, future claims and demands for autonomy and separation. The Round Table was moderated by the Coordinator of the Balkan Studies Center (BSC), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Caksu. More about the Balkan Studies Center (BSC) can be found at: http://bsc.ius.edu.ba/
