Reception for new students at "Maarif Koledz" High School

Today, on September 3rd, 2018, the "Maarif College" High School organized a reception for the second generation of students of this school. Twenty-eight new students will attend the Curriculum by the Sarajevo Canton Program as well as Cambridge Assessment International Education, wherein the third and fourth grades they will choose one of two lines of studies: Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Visual Communication and Design (VCD).

The director of the Maarif College High School welcomed the students and their parents and stated that she was honored to receive such a large second generation of students, bearing in mind that the Maarif College was a newly founded school which had 13 students during the last school year.

The director pointed out that the classrooms at Maarif College are equipped with modern, cutting-edge technology such as smart boards while natural science laboratories were equipped according to high-quality Cambridge standards.

"The specificity of this school is reflected in the fact that our students from the first grade have the opportunity to work on projects through the introduction of the so-called mentorship system, where teachers as mentors track students’ improvements, thus helping them with the choice of courses and their future careers. Namely, in addition to regular classes where students meet with a number of professional IT subjects, we have also organized project teaching held by professors from the International University of Sarajevo. Project teaching covers the areas of ICT in the first, and Design and Technology in the second grade, which helps students find their way to the desired direction in the third grade, "said director Halilčević.

In addition to the possibility for students to acquire secondary school education and became a high school baccalaureates with orientation in one of the two lines of studies, students are given the opportunity to choose to attend the Cambridge IGSCE and the Cambridge A / As level program, take international exams and acquire Cambridge Diploma that is internationally recognized. Teaching according to the Cambridge Program and curriculum is in English.

"Most courses of the Cambridge Program are taught in English, while the national group of subjects is taught in Bosnian," explained Halilčević.

The director pointed out that the aim of the Maarif College as an educational institution is not only providing high-quality education, but also educating students in order to grow into stable individuals who will be able to deal with the challenges of modern life. "We want them to be our pride, and above all, good people," added Halilcevic.
