Prof. Dr. David Pettigrew held a lecture at IUS

 

On November 28.2019. Prof. Dr. David Pettigrew held a public lecture "Obstacles to Human Rights and Transitional Justice in Bosnia and Herzegovina: Responding to 'Triumphalism’", at International University of Sarajevo. Dr. Pettigrew is a professor of Philosophy and Holocaust and Genocide Studies at Southern Connecticut State University.

In his lecture Dr. Pettigrew addressed obstacles to human rights and transitional justice in BiH, with a focus on certain problematic practices in the area memorialization, such as the glorification of convicted perpetrators, and the prohibition of memorials for the victims. He has also referred to the related aspects of the High Representative’s recent report to the United Nations Security Council.

This lecture was the third event organized by the Center for Human Rights and Transitional Justice in 2019/2020 academic year.
