Prof. Dr. Abd al-Fattah El-Awaisi Held Lecture Beytulmakdis and Islamic Community

On March 17, 2017, Prof. Dr. Abd al-Fattah El-Awaisi gave a lecture about Jerusalem under Islamic rule and situation in Jerusalem today.

Dr. El-Awaisi  began with praising city of Sarajevo and expressing his gratitude  for the warm welcome he received.  He was honored that his first visit to Balkans is to Bosnia and that he had an opportunity to visit the grave of the first president of Bosnia & Herzegovina Alija Izetbegović. Being British Palestinian himself, he gave a great insight on the situation of Palestinians under occupied Palestinian territories. Dr. Abd al-Fattah criticized countries in the region for doing close to nothing to ease the suffering of Palestinians and aiding their brothers and sisters in faith. Education and knowledge are some of the ways Palestine can be aided. He stressed that strong Turkish country is valuable for the region and strong Turkey is one of the steps towards Palestinian freedom.  Dr. El-Awaisi's predictions for near future of the Middle East were not bright, but he concluded with a positive thought that one day this region will wake up to dawn of peace.

Earlier that day, Prof. Dr. Abd al-Fattah El-Awaisi donated books related to Palestine and the Middle East to the IUS Library. We would like to use this opportunity to thank the professor for his kind donation and his visit.
