Orientation day for freshmen 2019/2020

 

Orientation day for freshmen at IUS took place on Tuesday, October 1, 2019. This was a great opportunity for our new students to familiarize themselves with the staff and facilities of IUS.

Students were first shown the short promo video, to see what the IUS stands for.

The rector of IUS, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yildirim welcomed the students to our institution, emphasizing the importance of hard work and dedication. He told students that they shouldn’t forget why they are here.

The Students Affairs Office was introduced by its deputy manager Melina Ahmetovic, reminding the students that it is the office they have already gone through, and it is the place where they will get their certificates, transcripts, and other documents.

Coordinator of students' activities at Student and Career Centre, Hilal Yanik explained its role in gaining skills and finding traineeship for students, where they gain their first work experience. This office is also responsible for the recruitment of volunteers.

Manager of International Relations Office, Zuhal Guvener explained the advantage of the Erasmus program and possibilities for all students to study abroad for, at least, one semester. She explained to students what they need to be eligible to participate in this student exchange program.

The director of English Language School, Hilal Karic welcomed the new students to ELS, stating that they are going to have a separate Orientation day, where more details will be provided.

Merima Arslankadic, the Library manager explained students the procedure of registering at the Library and offered them the necessary help when looking for books.

Psychology Counseling Centre was introduced by Mehmet Akif Elen who explained the role of this Centre, and offered students assistance and support while dealing with new responsibilities and the new environment.

PR manager Mirnes Baltic congratulated students on choosing this university. He explained the role of the PR office and invited all students active on social networks and keen on sharing their stories to join this team.

Apart from those services introduced today, there are also many other units and services that, working together, make it possible for IUS to be a successful university, and all its members to be a part of the family.

After the Orientation session students went to Baščaršija to have coffee and some fun together.
