Orientation Day for Foreign Students

Orientation Day for Foreign Students

On Saturday, March 11, 2017, International Relations Office of the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) organized Orientation day for foreign students who are on exchange at the IUS during spring semester of AY 2016-17. Most of the students are on exchange via Erasmus+, Mevlana program, and individual arrangements.

As part of Orientation day, a visit to Memorial museum of Srebrenica in Sarajevo was organized. There students had an opportunity to see documentaries about the breakdown of SFRJ, Srebrenica Genocide, and siege of Sarajevo 1992-5. After the presentations and information about modern history of BiH, Dayton Agreement, etc, students expressed their satisfaction with the fact that they were able to listen about these events directly from local people, which they have not heard about in their respective countries.

After the educational part of the Orientation day, students visited the most important cultural and historical sights of the city together with IRO staff and volunteers. They could see the view of Sarajevo from the Yellow Fortress (Žuta Tabija), which was an ideal opportunity for them to make selfies and make memories about their student time in Sarajevo.

It is important to mention as well that the interest of foreign students for exchange at IUS has significantly  increased in comparison to past year. In the academic year 2016-17, the number of exchange students is 40, whilst in previous year a total of 20 foreign students participated in the exchange.
