Unique exchange experience in Zielona Gora

My Exchange in Zielona Gora

As part of our continued activities on promoting IUS exchange students whose mobility was realized with the assistance of the International Relations Office, we bring you another story from Poland.

My name is Selin Öksüz and I study English Language and Literature Pedagogical Formation. I am taking part in Erasmus+ exchange program at the University of Zielona Gora. Zielona Gora is a small city in Poland, very close to Berlin. Erasmus was always my dream and when I heard about this opportunity I accepted it immediately. I love being here, I have so many friends who are not only Polish but also Greek, Spanish, Italian and Serbian. Most of my Erasmus friends are like my family. You don’t feel lonely when they are around you and everyone speaks English well.

If you want to be a part of Erasmus+ program, I highly recommend you to choose Poland. When Poland is compared to other EU countries, living expenses are not very high, because Poland uses its own currency called “zloty” instead of Euro. You can live here very easily as a student, you can find so many enjoyable events and traveling around is easy as you can use the train, bus or plane. For example, I have traveled to Krakow with my Greek friend Kalliopi by train and we had a great time. In Wroclaw I attended the Food Truck Festival where I tasted street foods and various drinks and it was great!

If you are a basketball fan, you can see Basketball Champions League in Zielona Gora. I have been to Stelmet Enea BC vs AS Monaco match with my friends and that was a unique experience for me.
If you want to socialize, come to Poland, have fun and find your international family!
