"MUSIAD Mission and Its Role in the Balkans” Conference Held at IUS

International University of Sarajevo (IUS) was the host of conference: "MUSIAD Mission and Its Role in the Balkans” on Thursday, March 7, 2019. The conference was organized by the largest association of industrialists in Turkey called MUSAID. The key speakers at this conference were Mr. Erol M. Yarar, the founder and first president MUSAID, and Dr. Bilal Kara, director of MUSAID for the Balkans. The aim of the conference was to present the current role of this association in the economy of the Balkans, and its former and future activities.

At the event that was also attended by Ambassador of Republic of Turkey in Bosnia and Herzegovina, H. E. Haldun Koç, the delegation of MUSAID was welcomed to the IUS by Mr. Hasan Toplaoğlu, president of the Foundation for the Development of Education Sarajevo (SEDEF), and Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yıldırım, IUS rector.

Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yıldırım, IUS Rector, wished a warm welcome to the guests, and presented the audience our university, its student body and structure of staff, its accreditations, promotional activities in the Balkans and especially Europe, and the other relevant information about its current work.

The first speaker at the conference was Dr. Bilal Kara, director of MUSAID for the Balkans, who talked specifically about possibilities for increasing cooperation in the West Balkans, with reference to sector of education. After him, H. E. Haldun Koç has once again said that the IUS is currently the best address for education in Bosnia and Herzegovina. At the end, the founder of MUSIAD Erol M. Yarar addressed the audience and emphasized the immense importance of International University of Sarajevo in strengthening business relations between Turkey and Balkan countries. At the end, he said that he is very proud to witness how the IUS has grown since its establishment.

MUSIAD is an association that has been gathering business people for 27 years and currently has about 11.000 members. This association has about 86 representative offices in Turkey and at least 222 representative offices and contact centers in 92 other countries all over the world. The association represents 60 thousand companies that employ about 1.6 million people.

Every year MUSIAD organizes the International Business Forum (IBF). The next IBF will be organized in Sarajevo in October this year, which should bring together about 700 entrepreneurs and investors.
