Prof. Dr. Melika Husić-Mehmedović, the newly appointed Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Sarajevo Canton, visited the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) today with her Assistant, Azra Ivazović. Minister Husić-Mehmedović met with Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yıldırım, Rector of IUS, and the senior management of the University.
The Minister previously visited other higher education institutions in the Sarajevo Canton, and announced that the new Ministry has initiated serious and thorough procedures in order to adopt new - contemporary legislation under the Law on Higher Education and the Law on Scientific Research. The law aims at modernization and new scientific-teaching and research activities in the Sarajevo Canton.
After receiving information about the results and plans so far and full support for the initiated processes from Prof. Dr. Yɪldɪrɪm, Minister Husić-Mehmedović pointed out that the Ministry will permanently encourage the strengthening of cooperation between higher education institutions, and work on developing the necessary mechanisms.
Observing the premises and capacities of IUS, Minister Husić-Mehmedović was presented with the successfully implemented IUS teaching methodology during the pandemic along with the newly established Webex platform, which raises the quality of the distance learning system and which IUS was the first to apply in teaching in BiH.
The work so far and investment in the vision and mission of IUS has resulted in the opening of a spacious and comprehensive campus, the construction of facilities and modern university buildings, library and data bases, two comfortable dormitories, a well-appointed research center, as well as continuous development of research capacity. In addition, IUS offers students the most modern architectural laboratories, laboratories for computer science, electronics, genetics and bioengineering, economics, physics, mechanical engineering, as well as the Nanomaterial laboratory - equipped according to the latest standards, providing quality education and training.
