Minister of Defense of B&H and the Honorary Consul of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Turkey visited IUS

The Rectorate of the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) visited on Tuesday, September 24th, 2013, the Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina Mr. Zekerijah Osmić, Chief of Staff Mr. Mustafa Sinanović and Honorary Consul of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Izmir and one of the founders of IUS, Mr. Ahmed Kemal Baysak.

Distinguished guests were welcomed by IUS Rector, Prof. Dr. Yücel Oğurlu, adviser to IUS Rector, Asst. Prof. Dr. Hasan Korkut and Deputy Secretary General of IUS, Mr. Armin Kerić .

Prof. Dr. Yücel Oğurlu informed Minister Osmić of the history, plans, technical and human capacities of IUS. He also introduced the guests to activities related to giving scholarships to students willing to study at IUS faculties.

Honorable Minister Osmić expressed his satisfaction with the visit, and stressed that the aim of this visit was to get introduced to the work and activities of IUS and indicated interest in developing closer cooperation with IUS.

Minister Osmić thanked Mr. Baysak for his care and assistance to Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially in economic terms. Due to the personal commitment of Mr. Baysak and assistance provided to Bosnia and Herzegovina and its citizens, during and after the war, the Parliament of Bosnia and Herzegovina has decided to open a honorary consulate in Izmir and award the title of the first Honorary Consul of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Mr. Baysak on May 28th, 2003.

Mr. Kemal Baysak is the founder and honorary president of the Federation of Association of Culture of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Republic of Turkey, which was established in 2003.

At the end of the meeting, Minister Osmić expressed his satisfaction with the progress of construction of the campus of International University of Sarajevo in the recent years and wished every success in the future. He also pointed out that the meeting was very useful and wished the best of luck in the future work of IUS .

In gratitude to Minister Zekerijah Osmić, Honorary Consul of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Izmir, Mr. Ahmed Kemal Baysak and the Rector of the International University of Sarajevo, Prof. Dr. Yücel Oğurlu exchanged appropriate gifts.
