IUS in the World Ranking List

IUS in the World Ranking List

In 2015 UN Member States adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which incorporates 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). SDGs tackle global challenges through performing the activities which aim to eradicate poverty, fight inequality and injustice, find solutions for climate changes and preserve peace and justice in the world. Times Higher Education (THE), an organization behind the world’s most influential university ranking, published the first ever 2019 THE University Impact Ranking to recognize the universities across the world, based on their achievements and contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

In this world ranking list, International University of Sarajevo (IUS) was ranked 101-200, out of 500 accredited universities whose applications were accepted in 2019. (THE University Impact Rankings: https://www.timeshighereducation.com/rankings/impact/2019)

The universities were evaluated based on their performance on scaled and pre-rounded performance on SDGs, in other words their social and economic impact on the society as a whole.

In the letter sent to IUS by Times Higher Education it reads: “Your inclusion in these rankings is in itself a great achievement and it marks your institution out as a global pioneer – demonstrating your institution’s commitment not just to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals through its teaching, research and knowledge transfer, but also to embodying the goals in your institution’s internal practices, policies and procedures and providing verifiable evidence of your activities.”

IUS management expressed their satisfaction with this great ranking achievement on the THE Impact Ranking list, and congratulated all staff and interested parties who contributed to this remarkable success. https://www.timeshighereducation.com/world-university-rankings/internat…
