IUS students visited Butmir NATO base

Students from the International Relations Program of FBA organized a visit to NATO base in Butmir on Thursday, December 4, 2014. The aim of the visit was to inform students about the meaning and mission of NATO forces in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The visit was organized on the initiative of Professor in the International Relations Program (IR) of IUS, Dr. Abdurrahim Siradag and a student at the aforementioned program Mehmet Kemal Koksal. 

During the visit, Deputy Commander Colonel Ole-Asbjørn Fauske from Norway gave a lecture about the missions of NATO in the region with special emphasis on Bosnia and Herzegovina. Colonel Fauske pointed out the significance of the interdependence of the Balkan countries especially in regard to peacekeeping. Later on, the students were able to see a presentation on the tasks of EUFOR in Bosnia and Herzegovina. After the visit, Deputy Commander, Colonel Fauske and his fellow officers are invited to visit the IUS in the future and hold lectures on the topic of Euro-Atlantic missions.
