IUS Student’s Psychological Counseling Centre (SPCC)

Students of the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) come from different countries, therefore they face different challenges such as adjusting to the new environment or feeling family separation anxiety, daily hassles and pressures such as study tasks and obligations. Some students have difficulties in coping with stressful situations and organization of their student’s life which may lead to psychological distress with various symptoms resulting in student’s inability to meet their academic demands.

 

''In order to help our students overcome psychological problems they face, we decided to open Psychological Counseling Centre (IUS SPCC). This important project will provide professional services to all IUS students helping them deal with problems related to study, adjustment, self-esteem, loneliness or other issues. '' - said Psychology Program Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Senija Tahirovic. IUS SPCC will operate within the Psychology Program of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS). If you have problems such as: 

  • Concentration problems or lack of motivation to study;
  • Exam anxiety and stress;
  • Time organizational management;
  • Adjusting to new environment and facing cultural diversity;
  • Problems in communication with family members or friends;
  • Feeling of loneliness;
  • Problems with self-esteem or identity crisis;
  • Bad habits or substance abuse.
