IUS students in the flood zone

On Wednesday 21st of May, 2014, Student Parliament of the International University of Sarajevo (SPIUS) with the cooperation of International University of Sarajevo Trekking Club (IUSTR) and IUS Search and Rescue Club ( IUSSAR) participated in the cleaning action after flood in the zones that were affected in the city of Maglaj. Within the cooperation 77 students, 11 staff and 2 medical assistant were carried away to the city of Maglaj by 2 buses that were provided by the University. The gloves, masks, boats, shovels and other necessary tools that were needed for the cleaning action were provided by the clubs, and other participants.

During the action, 12 houses in Maglaj were cleaned including interior sides, gardens and woodsheds. For this action, the buses from IUS left for Maglaj at 7 a.m. and they arrived at the scene at 10 a.m. After approximately 5 hours of work, the activists returned to Sarajevo at 4:30 p.m. The International University of Sarajevo would like to thank all students, staff and other participants who have shown a great courage and unselfishness through the action, and appreciates the help that was brought to the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina when they need the most.
