IUS Received State Accreditation

The Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Sarajevo Canton has re-accredited the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) for the next 5 years, once again confirming the quality of work of this higher education institution, as well as its recognition and commitment to quality.

IUS is accredited on the proposal of the Agency for Development of Higher Education and Quality Assurance of BiH (HEA), which gave the mentioned Cantonal Ministry a positive opinion on the work of this University. In its recommendation, the HEA stated that the IUS meets all 9 criteria set by the HEA, in accordance with the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area, the Bologna Process Principles and the European Qualifications Framework.

The accreditation committee, appointed by the HEA, which consisted of local and international experts, visited IUS in June this year and inspected the work and infrastructure capacity of the University. On that occasion, it was determined that there were high standards and conditions for IUS to regain state accreditation. During the two-day visit to the University, the appointed experts spoke with the IUS leadership, the quality and self-evaluation team, administration staff, representatives of graduates, representatives of the economy and the labor market, representatives of academic staff, deans and coordinators of all study programs, through which the work was evaluated, as well as with students of all years. During the tour of the University, the Commission had the opportunity to see the richly equipped university campus, with computer-equipped classrooms, lectures, multimedia classrooms, an art gallery, sports fields, and other facilities available to students.

The submission of the IUS re-accreditation application was preceded by a thorough and comprehensive internal self-evaluation, performed by the internal IUS Accreditation Commission. The accreditation process was managed and coordinated by the IUS Quality Assurance Office.

It is noteworthy that IUS received its first accreditation in Bosnia and Herzegovina back in 2004, also from the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Sarajevo Canton. As a relatively young academic institution, IUS immediately provided students with an open, tolerant, international environment, where young people have the opportunity to gain new and share existing knowledge and experiences with students and professors, as well as with distinguished guest lecturers.

"This recognition further motivates us to continue to work hard to educate young people and to achieve the goals of our mission and vision, to make IUS a center of quality, science and research, an internationally recognized institution whose diplomas will be recognized and accepted in the unique space of European higher education, "said IUS Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yıldırım.
