IUS as a leader in socially useful projects

After very successful Juventus Camps in Zagreb, Sarajevo, Cetinje, from today Juventus Academy starts to work in Sarajevo, for the first time in Balkans.

Juventus Academy, presented by Birr Group, will start with 30 children that will have trainings in Center for education, sports and recreation "Safet Zajko". Even if registration was opened for girls too, this year only boys aged 5 – 17 registered for Academy.

Local coaches, selected by the staff of Juventus, which will be under the watchful eye of the Italian coaches, whose job is to control the work of the Academy will work with children.

According to Melvin Ahmetovic, spokesman of Juventus Academy and Birr Group from Sarajevo, which owns the license for the former Yugoslavia  - when it comes to Juventus football school, the Academy presents the Turin club's youth academy.

- This year we have organized the Juventus camp in Sarajevo, Zagreb and in Cetinje, and next week we organize a camp in Kosovo. Now, it’s time for academy for children, boys and girls. From month to month number of attendants will increase, and I hope by next year we will have 90 to 100 participants, said Ahmetovic.

Matteo Mercuri, head coach of Juventus Academy, recalled that Juventus name comes from the Latin word "Juventus" that means youth. It’s obvious that focus of the Italian football club is at younger ages.

Moto of Juventus is growing people, and then the good players, said Marcuri.

- I'm glad to be here in Sarajevo and I am glad that we can finally open an academy in the Balkans. I believe that we do a good job here in Sarajevo, said Mercuri.

International Juventus Academy Project opened its doors to children on six continents. During one year, more than 15,000 boys and girls train under this project.

- Juventus Academy doesn’t exist only in Italy, it is spread worldwide. And this academy will be part of one big family, this international project. We want children to get the best experience. We want children to enjoy and learn how to win and lose with dignity, said Mercuri.

Coach Marco de Gortes, who will be in charge of monitoring the work of the Academy, and who represents Juventus for the region of Europe and the Middle East will almost every month visit Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Founder of Birr Groups and initiator of the Juventus Project in BiH Mr. Artem Avanesyan expressed his satisfaction because of the opening of the Academy of Juventus in Sarajevo.

–I am happy that I managed to bring this brand to Bosnia and the Balkans. In order to offer the best to children, we cooperate with International University of Sarajevo (IUS) and center “Safet Zajko” where kids train, said Avanesyan.

IUS recognized the good cooperation with the Turin’s club', said PR manager IUS Meldina Ugarak.

-IUS saw an opportunity in this project, it's an opportunity we could not refuse. The fact that the Academy is starting in the Balkans for the first time is the historical moment when it comes to sports. I can say that the IUS is a leader in socially useful projects, she said.
