IUS Hosted Department of Urban Management and Social Policies at the University of Aix-Marseille, South of France

Social and Political Sciences (SPS) Program in Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) and Architecture Program in Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences (FENS) at International University of Sarajevo hosted Professors and 45 students from Department of Urban Management and Social Policies at the University of Aix-Marseille, South of France on March 15, 2018.

Head of Social Sciences Department and SPS Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aliye F. Mataraci opened the event with a welcome speech wishing for many possible academic exchanges and future collaborations between International University of Sarajevo and University of Aix-Marseille.

The event continued with a brief introduction of IUS in French by Dr. Gorcin Dizdar from Social and Political Sciences Program and a short video about life at IUS and in Sarajevo in English. The welcome program involved two lectures presented by the Professors from the host and guest institutions: Assist. Prof. Dr. Amra Hadžimuhamedović from Architecture Program in FENS at IUS shared her research titled  “Culture-based Urban Resilience: Post-war Recovery of Sarajevo” and Dr. Hélène Garnier, Head of Department of Urban Management and Social Policies at the University of Aix-Marseille, and Dr. Rémi Habouzit presented their research titled "Urban Renewal in France: from National Orientations to Local Realities".

The event ended with a reception where students and professors of host and guest institutions continued with exchanges and discussions. This event was organized by SPS Coordinator, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aliye F. Mataraci.
