IUS gave prizes worth more than 10,000 KM

The GenIUS’14 competition award ceremony, for the best candidates was held on Tuesday, May 27th, 2014 in the amphitheater of the International University of Sarajevo (IUS). The aim of this event was to promote young and talented students from Bosnia and Herzegovina. During the competition, 130 researchers, from 100 high schools have participated in the project with a total of 107. In the first round of evaluation, the best 50 projects were selected, out of which 20 were (Ecology), 15 (Computer technology) and 15 (Engineering). On this occasion, the University gave different awards, money prizes (over 10,000 KM), 8 computers and projectors, as well as scholarships for the first cycle of studies at IUS. The ceremony was attended by IUS Rector, Prof. Dr. Yücel Oğurlu, Vice-Rector Asst. Prof. Dr. Muhamed Hadžiabdić, Chairman of the project, Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohamed  Ragab Abdel-Gawwad,  Prof. Dr. Migdad Hodžić, as well as other members of the organizing team. When it comes to awards, the first three places were given to the following participants:

  • 1 place in the field of Engineering won Kemal Sedić (Mobile hydroelectric project), JU ‘’Mješovita elektrotehnička i drvnoprerađivačka škola – Bihać’’.
  • 1 place in the field of Environment won Amina Ašćerić (Project-Clean ocean with bio-movements), Tursko-bosanski Sarajevo koledž, Sarajevo.
  • 1 place in the field of Computer science won Haris Botić (Project-Monitoring of video surveillance system), Tursko-bosanski Sarajevo koledž, Sarajevo.

 

  • 2 place in the field of Engineering won Haris Holjan and Ajdin Lizde (Project-A device for testing and cleaning of common-rail injectors), Srednja škola metalskih zanimanja, Sarajevo.
  • 2 place in the field of Environment won Suada Štitkovac (Project-Reduction of air pollution with the use of chicory), Tursko-bosanski Sarajevo koledž, Sarajevo.
  • 2 place in the field of Computer science won Emir Kurtanović (Project-Connect IT), JU ‘’Srednjoškolski centar Hadžići.

 

  • 3 place in the field of Engineering won Ferhat Dobrača (Project-white robotic wheelchair), Prva gimnazija Sarajevo.
  • 3 place in the field of Environment won Enisa  Varupa (Project - Effects of Propolis on clinically isolated staphylococci), Međunarodna škola Zenica.
  • 3 place in the field of Computer science won Džanan Ganić and İhsan Işık (Project HIVE-OS), Tursko-bosanski Sarajevo koledž, Sarajevo.

 

BH Genius competition was organized in following categories:

 

  • Engineering (Bioengineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics)
  • Environment and Biotechnology (Ecosystem, Recycling, Bioremediation, Air pollution, Soil pollution, Water pollution and Forests pollution, Agriculture, Medicine and Pharmacy)
  • Computer Sciences (GSM Network programming).
