Alphons Mucha worked on the design for BH pavilion at the World Exhibition in Paris in 1900, whilst Picasso worked on the design for international promotion of Veljko Bulajic’s film “Bitka na Neretvi”, in production of Bosna Film, in Sarajevo, 1969.
Brothers Walter and Norbert Neugebauer were born in Tuzla (lived in Zagreb since 1936) and belong to pioneers of comics and cartoons in Yugoslavia. They are among founders of the Zagreb School of Cartoon Film.
Ismet Mujezinović is one of the most important artists that Bosnia and Herzegovina had in the 20th century. It is not well known fact that in the years after the Second World War, he worked on illustration and poster design.
Mersad Berber, also one of our most important fine artists in the 20th century, in addition to graphics and painting, has produced lots of works in: illustration, poster design, book design, scenography and animation. With Abdulah Kozić (along with a number of other, not less important authors), his numerous illustrations were published in the 60's and 70's in the children's press: Male Novine (“The Little Newspaper”) and Vesela Sveska (“Joyful Notebook”).
Mirko Ilic is an author from Bosnia and Herzegovina, born in Bijeljina, who earned his Yugoslav glory in Zagreb between 1976 and 1986, and then gained worldwide fame in New York from 1986 until today. As an author, he did illustrations, comics, poster design, book design, and animation. For twenty years, he was an illustrator and art director of Time magazine in New York. Today, he is the owner Mirko Ilic Corp. based in New York, a member of numerous world associations, and design professor.

Zlatko Ugljen is a doyen of our architecture, academician and professor at the Faculty of Architecture in Sarajevo, but also a professor at the Department of Product Design of the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo. He is the author whose architectural manuscript is recognizable and highly regarded on the international architectural scene. And his student from the Department of Product Design, Omer Halilhodžić, is today also an important player in the international design scene, but in the field of car design. Today he is one of the most productive and most important car designers in Europe.
A total of 54 works will be presented at the exhibition. The exhibition is accompanied by a publication by Regional Museum of Travnik in 2017. Previously, this exhibition was presented in Travnik (Regional Museum, 2018), in Bihać (City Gallery, 2018) and Sarajevo (Art Gallery of BiH, 2018).
This exhibition, organized at the Art Gallery of the International University of Sarajevo (February 28 - March 21) is an opportunity for students of this university to see a small part of the extremely rich and significant heritage in the field of design in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also, it is an opportunity for everyone else who had not yet had seen the exhibition to come, see it and enjoy the works.
The selected authors deserved it!
