Ismail Ćidić, Sole Representative of BiH at WARP Summit in Seoul

South Korean non-governmental organization “Heavenly Culture, World Peace and Restoration of Light" has organized the third annual WARP Summit on peace, which is being held this year from September 17 - 19 in Seoul.
The summit gathered current and former presidents and prime ministers, religious representatives, and young leaders from more than 100 countries, to discuss on the topics of peace, conflicts, coexistence and tolerance, and thus jointly send a message of peace, symbolically, from the Korean peninsula.

This year’s representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina is Ismail Ćidić, student of International University of Sarajevo (IUS), who analyses the state of peace from the perspective of people of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Also, he gave his contribution by making suggestions for actual peace projects which will be realized in Bosnia and Herzegovina in future, with help of the said organization.

“There are few nations in the world who can, like we do, speak at the same time about peace, coexistence and tolerance, but also, unfortunately, about conflict, war and genocide. This is why it is very important that we communicate our message further, so that others may derive some benefit from it. We know well what war and genocide are, so we have to make every effort to prevent any potential conflicts.” said Ismail.

This year’s political representative of our region was former president of Croatia Mr. Ivo Josipović. Ismail had a meeting with the former president, and talked with him about the possibility of delivering a lecture at the IUS.

The central event of the Summit is the commemoration that takes place at the Olympic stadium in Seoul, in which more than 60,000 people are participating.

Some of the previous participants of the Summit were former member of BiH presidency Haris Silajdžić, former president of Croatia Stjepan Mesić, former president of Albania Bujar Nishani, president of  Palestine Mahmoud Abbas, former prime minister of Spain José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, and many others.
