International University of Sarajevo hosted 3rd International Conference on Education, Culture and Identity

On 12 and 13 October 2017, the 3rd International Conference on Education, Culture and Identity (ICECI) was held at International University of Sarajevo. The topic of this year’s conference was: ''The Future of Humanities, Education and Creative Industries''. The conference was organized in partnership with University of Zielona Gora (Poland), Deakin University (Australia), International University of Novi Pazar (Serbia) and Karabuk University (Turkey).

The two-day conference hosted participants from 32 countries: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Turkey, Serbia, the USA, Slovenia, India, Poland, Romania, Spain, Malaysia, Nigeria, Cyprus, Baltimore Country, Iran, Iraq, Croatia, Montenegro, Hungary, Pakistan, the UAE, Australia, Pakistan, Kuwait, Georgia, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Bulgaria, Algeria, Slovakia, Russia, Greece and Spain. In total, 120 abstracts were submitted by 225 authors and co-authors.

At the opening ceremony, IUS rector, Dr. Tahsin Erkan Türe, welcomed the participants and wished them fruitful sessions and discussions. The Conference Chair, Dr. Nudžejma Obralić, greeted the participants on behalf of the Organizing Committee and provided a brief overview of the three ICECI conferences organized so far. The keynote speakers of ICECI 2017 were the following distinguished scholars and experts: Dr. Benjamin Moor (Fontbonne University, USA), Dr. Marek Smoluk (University of Zielona Gora, Poland), Dr. Ahmet Faruk Aysan (Bogazici University, Turkey) and Dr. Selma Alispahić (Sarajevo War Theatre, BiH).

The Conference participants held interesting presentations, engaged in vibrant discussions, exchanged their views, experiences, findings and reviewed knowledge related to the future of education, culture and identity from interdisciplinary perspectives.
