ICPESS 2017 Opened at IUS

International Congress on Political, Economic and Social Studies - ICPESS 2017 was opened at the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) on May 19, 2017. The aim of this congress is to bring the researchers of different disciplines together and disseminate the knowledge in a multidisciplinary setting. Hundreds of the papers will be presented whose authors come from 17 countries, and the participants will exchange ideas and search for possible collaborations.

The opening ceremony of the ICPESS 2017 took place at the IUS Main Amphitheatre with short addresses of Doc. Dr. Şakir Görmüş, President of Center for Political, Economic and Social Research, Prof. Dr. Fatih Savaşan, Vice-Rector of National Defence University, and Prof. Dr. Tahsin Erkan Türe, Rector of the International University of Sarajevo, who welcomed the congress participants. The event was attended by many distinguished guests, congress participants, distinguished academics, academics of IUS, and other guests.

Following the opening remarks, keynote speakers addressed audience: Prof. Dr. Birol Akgün, President of the Republic of Turkey Maarif Foundation and Ahmet Emre Bilgili, Deputy Undersecretary of the Republic of Turkey Ministry of National Education.

Prof. Dr. Birol Akgün gave an insightful lecture about the rapid geopolitical, economical, demographic, and social changes we are witnessing, offering an overview of the possible future scenarios, and their implications for the research topics in the social sciences.

Mr. Ahmet Emre Bilgili said that civilization is universal and in its core includes culture, tradition and language. Therefore, it is necessary to divide the world into countries which only want to maintain their presence, and the countries that embrace the civilization. We also see that countries that have embraced civilization in the past have survived longer, others have quickly disappeared.

The congress is organized by IUS from May 19-22, 2017, in cooperation with the Sakarya University and Center for Political, Economical and Social Research (PESA).
