Graduation Ceremony for Class 2020 Held at IUS

On Friday, September 25, 2020 the Graduation ceremony of the 12th generation of IUS graduates, the Class of 2020 took place at IUS campus. Due to current conditions all safety measures were applied and respected. This Graduation ceremony was modest and intimate, where professors and students were the only ones to attend. However, we were happy to see our students healthy and safe, and the pride that we all felt was overwhelming.

Covid19 stopped us from doing many things in a normal way, but it didn’t stop our students from improving themselves and completing all their academic duties, thanks to their perseverance, and thanks to the hard work and dedication of our professors. Being the first to switch to online classes in the region, IUS has proved, once again, to be the best, and has been voted, for the fourth time, the best foundation university in Bosnia and Herzegovina by Webometrics. We are so proud of all of you contributing to such success, and graduates like you are the best ambassadors of our successes and achievements.

This year 190 students graduated, 170 students achieved their Bachelor’s degree, 16 their MA degree, and 3 their Ph.D degree. About 70 of them attended this Graduation ceremony.

This year, the three best IUS students were: the third Merisa Ahmetspahić, the second Selma Tvrtković and the first Amar Karađuz.

Our graduates were first greeted by the President of the Foundation for Education Development Sarajevo, Mr. Hasan Topaloglu, and then by Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yıldırım, Rector of the International University of Sarajevo.

Before wishing students all the best, they invited all present to observe a minute of silence and pray Fatiha to Prof. Amela Causevic, who passed away this morning and who was a valued member of the IUS family.

This year, 2020, the year that most of us would like to forget, graduates should remember as their first big achievement on their way to success, to a better future. We wish you all the best.
