Former Turkish Minister for Energy and Natural Resources visits IUS

Sarajevo, December 24th 2009

Former Turkish Minister for Energy and Natural Resources Dr. Mehmet Himi Güler, together with Turkish businessmen Dr. Akkan Suver from the Marmara Group Foundation and Mr. Orhan Erdem from the Bureau of Gnat visited International University of Sarajevo (IUS) on December 24th 2009. In the Office of the Rector, these distinguished guests were welcomed by the IUS Rector B. Gültekin Çetiner, member of the Executive Board of the Foundation for Education Development Sarajevo Mr. Alija Rizvanbegović and the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Güneş. There they were introduced to the IUS vision and mission, as well as IUS plans for becoming a leading university in the region.

After the meeting in the Office of Rector, guests and their hosts proceeded to the IUS Conference Hall where, at 14.00, Dr. Güler gave a speech to interested students and their professors. Dr. Güler's speech touched many of the current topics from the areas of energy and economy. As the speech came to an end, Dr. Güler gave an advice to all international students to use maximum of the fact that they are studying in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He also told them to get as much as possible knowledge from their professors wishing them best of luck in their future education. The gathering ended with the question and answer session between the students and Dr. Güler.

On behalf of the Foundation for Education Development Sarajevo and IUS tokens of appreciation for the guest were given by Mr. Alija Rizvanbegović and IUS Rector.
