First Academic Cooperation with Iran

In mid-August 2017, International University of Sarajevo (IUS) signed a memorandum of understanding on academic and scientific cooperation with Kharazmi University in Iran. Prof. Dr. Tahsin Erkan Türe and Prof. Dr. Mohammad Ali Sobhanallahi, Rectors of the two universities, signed a cooperation agreement. Distinguished Rectors Türe and Sobhanallahi agreed on cooperation during the recent Rectors' Conference in Ankara.
The Kharazmi University is considered to be one of the oldest higher education institutions in Iran. The University brings together about 14,000 students and 480 members of academic staff, operating within 16 faculties, 2 national research centers, 4 scientific institutes and 4 science centers. The university has two student campuses, one in Tehran and another one in Karaj.

The agreement with this elite Iranian university represents a very important step towards opening up new markets and horizons towards Asia, which will significantly contribute to further strengthening of international cooperation and internationalization of IUS. It is noteworthy that this is the first cooperation between IUS and an Iranian institution so far.
