Exhibition “Education and Recitation of Holy Qur’an in Africa” held at IUS

The exhibition of photographs by Abdulhamid Bolat, Senior Assistant at the Visual Arts and Visual Communication Design (VACD), entitled “Education and Recitation of Holy Qur’an in Africa” was opened in the IUS Art Gallery, on Friday, November 21, 2014. The opening ceremony of exhibition was attended by IUS Rector, Prof. Dr. Yücel Oğurlu, professors, students, and other visitors who have expressed great interest in the work of this young and promising artist. The topic of the exhibition deals with the question- how is knowledge and learning of the Qur’an passed from generation to generation in the local African villages.

This extraordinary topic attracted author's attention because of the unusual ways of learning and teaching Qur’an in Africa. Bolat reveals in his photographs, in a unique way, the ambient and countries of Africa. Through the lens of his camera, he brings Africa closer to the observer.
‘'I would like to give my gratitude to our dear Rector and those who contributed their efforts in the making of this exhibition. My dear brothers Sid Ahmed Mohammed Saidy and Abdifatah Ali Issa will give you a briefing on the education and Recitation of Holy Qur’an."- said the artist. Students Abdifatah Ali Issa from Kenya and Sid Ahmed Mohammed Saidy from Mauritania addressed the audience as well. The exhibited photographs are taken in the communities of the above mentioned students, in the summer of 2013.
