On August 29, 2019, International University of Sarajevo (IUS) was the venue for the closing ceremony of the three-day professional development program for Turkish language and literature teachers from BiH. The professional development program was organized within the scope of the project "My Choice is Turkish”, which is being implemented by Yunus Emre Institute since 2011.

After a meeting held between representatives of Yunus Emre Institute and IUS Rector Dr. Ahmet Yıldırım, the official ceremony followed, attended by representatives of Turkish institutions and associations in BiH, principals of schools where the Turkish language is being taught, Turkish language teachers, and other guests.

Rector Yıldırım said that although the number of registered students was not sufficient to open the Turkish Language study program at IUS this year, IUS can offer a good quality Turkish language study program next year, in which Turkish would be taught by native speakers. At IUS, where the official language of instruction is English – Rector Yıldırım added – prospective students of this study program could learn three languages: Turkish, English and Bosnian.

A number of distinguished guests addressed the audience at this ceremony: Director of the Yunus Emre Institute Prof. Dr. Şeref Ateş, members of the supervisory board of the Yunus Emre Institute Mustafa Gazalcı and Celal Erbay, and some of the prominent participants in the project.
