Erasmus+ Internship for Young Entrepreneurs

For the past two years, international student internships have been organized by the IUS International Relations Office (IRO). Several students from France, Spain, USA, and Turkey applied for one-month or longer internships at the International University of Sarajevo (IUS), where they were given the opportunity to acquire new skills and experience of professional work. What's more, a number of IUS students have been sent to Erasmus+ traineeship program through IRO office. Among these are two senior-year students Ajša Bunjo and Emina Jusufbašić who embarked on an adventure of international internship in Ankara.

Within the scope of the Erasmus+ program, our young potential entrepreneurs worked for “Young Entrepreneurship, Education, Youth and Sports Club Association” (“Genç Girişim Eğitim Gençlik ve Spor Kulübü Derneği”) where they gained new skills, knowledge and experience in the field of entrepreneurship. They were tasked to develop projects and perform sportive activities in local communities targeting the youth population. As Ajša Bunjo noted, these 5 months helped her develop, improve and acquire skills needed for planning, creating and promoting complete projects focused on youth and local development, participation of disadvantaged groups in sports activities and establishing a networking capacity in cooperation with the local stakeholders.

It is without doubt that the Erasmus+ for Young Entrepreneurs program provided our students with valuable knowledge, skills and on-the-job training that they can use to launch their own start-ups or run an already set business in their home country. Furthermore, they also benefited from international cooperation which might open the door to their potential collaboration with business partners in Turkey and other countries abroad. This internship was an opportunity for students to travel and visit other countries as well.
