Educational seminar on landmines for students

Under the organization of Mr. Mustafa Çelik, manager of the Social, Cultural, Health and Sports Activities, Mr. Sasa Obradović from the Bosnian-Herzegovinian Mine Action Centre (BHMAC) held an educational seminar on landmines for IUS student. The seminar was held on Friday, May 21, 2010 in the Amphitheatre on the ground floor. The Bosnian-Herzegovinian Mine Action Centre is a state body responsible for mine action coordination. It is consisted of 36 accredited demining organizations and around 3000 trained deminers.

As Mr. Obradović stated at the beginning of his seminar the vision of BHMAC is to have Bosnia and Herzegovina cleaned of landmines by 2019. Currently there is around 1.560 km2 of suspicious terrain in our country and Mr. Obradović gave to IUS students maps of mine situation.

The seminar proved to be good opportunity for both foreign and domestic students to learn more about the problematic of landmines that Bosnia and Herzegovina faces and to avoid areas where landmines can be found.
