Dr. Sc. Kristina Šorić gave a lecture at IUS

On Wednesday, May 22nd, 2013 the International University of Sarajevo was a host to a respected professor from Zagreb School of Economics and Management, Dr. Kristina Šorić.

She gave a lecture entitled "Bi - criteria Supply Chain Management in Olive Oil Industry", which attracted the attention of many students, professors and IUS staff.

In her presentation, Dr. Šorić analyzed the problems in the management chain of olive oil production, operations management, the relationship between suppliers and manufacturers, and she focused on practical examples in the manufacturing process of olive oil in her country, Croatia.

It is worth mentioning that Dr. Šorić is currently employed at the Zagreb School of Economics and Management, in the Department of Management and that during her previous work period from 1990 to 2012, she worked as the head of Department of Mathematics for eight years at the Faculty of Economics in Zagreb.

She received her PhD degree in Applied Mathematics at the University of Padua, and her main scientific interest is in the area of operational research, heuristics and meta-heuristics, deployment and management of the production chain.

Dr. Šorić is a member of the Croatian Operational Research Society where she served as the president, in the period from 2000 to 2004, and she is also a member of the Croatian Mathematical Society in charge of the hi-tech technologies. She also led two scientific projects financed by the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports of the Republic of Croatia.

Dr. Šorić received a warm welcome from professors of mathematics, management and operations research experts, Prof. Dr. Harry Miller, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Haris Gavranović, Assist. Prof. Dr. Lejla Miller, Senior Assistants Mr. Haris Hojkurić and Mr. Shadi Fadda. After the lecture, in a pleasant atmosphere, they discussed the possibility of working on joint scientific projects.
