Dr. Joseph J. Kaminski appointed as Senior Research Associate in NPRP-C Grant (2021-2026)

IUS professor of International Relations Dr. Joseph J. Kaminski has officially been made a Senior Research Associate on a 5-year, 4.4 million-dollar grant project funded by the Qatar National Research Fund that addresses the UN Sustainable Development Goal, Education. This grant project is titled: ''Sustainable Development Goals Education and Global Citizenship in Qatar.”

The project will address the question of how Global Citizenship Education (GCED) goals and Sustainable Development Goals Education (SDGED) resonate with a wide range of ethical, moral and localized educational ideals that can be readily be absorbed into Qatar’s broader educational system.

The overarching objective of the cluster is to provide applied solutions to educational challenges with the aim of providing evidence-based designs and innovative educational modules in Qatar. The cluster seeks to produce an inclusive, multi-stakeholder creative space in Qatar's educational ecosystem which itself will help further support, study, and implement the SDGs educational practices as a long-term strategy. The plan aligns closely with the vision of Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, one of the world's leading SDG advocates and financial backers.

Dr. Kaminski's specific contribuion to the project will involve analyzing different Islamic values and ethical ideals that can be readily incorporated into other localized projects in Qatar's primary, secondary and higher educational systems.  His research will help inform their methodological development, their strategies for data collection, and their design of pilots and other curricula related projects.

We congratulate to Dr. Kaminski and wish him a lot of success in this exciting new project.
