Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports of Republic of Turkey Abdurrahim Boynukalın Visited International University of Sarajevo (IUS)

On Friday, 13 January 2017, the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Turkey Abdurrahim Boynukalın visited the International University of Sarajevo. Visit was organized by SEDEF foundation, and the distinguished guest was welcomed in the Main Hall at the IUS Campus. The student clubs EMSA and Performance Club of IUS prepared the performance and the panel discussion to mark six months from the failed coup.

The distinguished guest was warmly welcomed by IUS Rector Prof. Dr. Tahsin Erkan Türe, Vice-Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Gürsel and  Vice-Rector Assist. Prof. Dr. Faruk Berat Akçeşme, Advisor and Representative of Rector Assist. Prof. Dr. Muhamed Ali, General Secretary Mr. Armin Kerić, a number of IUS professors and students. Many distinguished guests from Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina with background in education and goverment were also present.

The visit started with the student performance by Performance Club entitled “The Nation” (“Millet”), which was dedicated to all the victims and martyrs of war and violence, but highlighting the happenings of the 15th of July in Ankara and Istanbul, Turkey. At the end of the theater show, the actor Mirza Rastoder invited IUS Rector's Türe, the Deputy Minister Boynukalın and all the guests to release the Turkish flag. Then, the delegation entered to the main amphitheater of the IUS to participate in the conference.

Mr. Boynukalın started his speech by saying that he prepared a text frame, but the ambience had a great impact on him and wanted to continue in a totally sincere atmosphere. Boynukalın first thanked IUS students for their special invitations. He also talked about the history, what Turkey has been through and the Coup attempt, and answered the questions of IUS students.

After the performance and panel discussion, the special guest was given a gift as a memory of their visit. The gifts were work of IUS students, in form of pictures that convey sentiment of the nations triumph in the night of Coup Attempt.
