Delegation of the National University of Science and Technology from Pakistan visited IUS

On Friday, 13th of September 2013, Delegation of the National University of Science and Technology (NUST), Islamabad, Pakistan visited the International University of Sarajevo (IUS). The delegation was led by Rector, Engr. Muhammad Asghar and Ambassador of Pakistan in Bosnia and Herzegovina, H.E. Syed Khalid Amir Jaffery.

The delegation was welcomed by IUS Rector, Prof. Dr. Yücel Oğurlu, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences at IUS (FENS), Prof. dr. Fehim Findik, Advisor to the Rector of IUS, Assist. Prof. Dr. Hasan Korkut and Professors from Genetics and Bioengineering program at IUS, Prof. Dr. Abdul Razaque Memon and Assist. Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ragab Abdel Gawwad.

The Pakistani delegation gave a brief presentation about NUST activities and then visited the teaching and research facilities of IUS. Memorandum of Understanding between the two universities was signed by both Rectors and it was decided that universities will take actions to establish cooperation among student and academic staff exchange, as well as joint research projects.

The National University of Science and Technology (NUST) from Pakistan is a premier national institution that has won global acclaim within a short span of time. Various constituent schools and colleges, functioning under the umbrella of NUST, are imparting high quality education at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the disciplines of Engineering, Medical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Architecture, Information Technology, Management and Social Sciences.

NUST is currently (2013) ranked 481st in the world by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), UK. In subject-wise ranking, NUST is rated among the top 300 universities in Engineering & IT (250th). NUST has been included among top 100 Asian Universities in the subject of Engineering & Technology according to the recent ranking of Asian Universities announced on 11th June, 2013 by QS, UK. NUST has been placed at 75th position in this subject. NUST attained the overall rank of 120 amongst the Asian Universities. In the subjects of Natural Sciences, Life Sciences & Medicine and Social Sciences & Management NUST stands at 138th, 136th and 144th position, respectively. These rankings are carried out on the basis of teaching quality, perception of international academic peers, quality of university graduates as per their employers and internationalization measures taken by the University.

Because of its high teaching and research standards, NUST is collaborating with numerous reputable foreign universities on various projects of mutual benefit.

IUS students, especially MSc and PhD students and professors are encouraged to make a mutual short and long research visits and explore the possibilities for collaborative research projects with NUST.
