Conference on "Urban and architectural design problems in the contemporary city: The case of Sarajevo"

International Conference and Workshop on "Urban and architectural design problems in the contemporary city: The case of Sarajevo" was organized in the main amphitheater of the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) on Friday, November 14, 2014. The Conference was hosted by IUS in cooperation with the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice (Poland) and PWSZ University in Racibórz (Poland). This event lasted from 10-14 November. 

IUS Rector, Prof. Dr. Yücel Oğurlu opened the Conference with welcoming speech. He emphasizing the importance of this Conference and was glad to see, in one place, many international experts and students. The Polish Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, HE. Andrzej Krawczyk welcomed the cooperation with IUS in BiH and Poland. He said that visiting Sarajevo and knowing more about its urban and historical background gives people the opportunity to become more enriched in terms of experience and knowledge. 

The coordinators of the Conference and workshop were: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ewa Stachura, Senior Assistant Tijana Tufek-Memišević (IUS) and Prof. Dr. Joanna Sokołowska-Moskwiak from PWSZ University Racibórz. Redefinition of the central urban area of Sarajevo was discussed during the Conference and they emphasized the Marijin dvor, as one of the most significant part of the city.
