BiH Ministry of Communications and Transport and IUS Entered into MoU

Ministry of Communications and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina and International University of Sarajevo (IUS) entered into Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which the two institutions signed on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018 at the IUS premises, in order to set forth the intentions for collaboration, cooperation and interaction in the fields of science, education and expert practice.

Minister Ismir Jusko headed the delegation of Ministry of Communications and Transport of Bosnia whilst on behalf of the IUS the memorandum was signed by the IUS Rector Dr. T. Erkan Türe.

On this occasion, IUS Rector Türe said: “Universities are places where knowledge is created, learned, taught, disseminated, and transferred. To transfer knowledge and technology created at the universities we need to create partnerships with industry, government and all other sectors of the community. This memorandum will enable us to transfer know-how to serve community through the projects done together with the Ministry of Transportation and Communications. So, this memorandum will provide the legal base for new projects that will create new opportunities and jobs.”

Minister Ismir Jusko said that he expects cooperation to happen in the field of software industry: “It is in our interest to use knowledge and experience of professors from the International University of Sarajevo in projects ahead of us this year. If you remember, last year we have organized a conference for the development of software industry and after that conference we realized that there are a lot of experts there whose potentials haven’t been used when it comes to work of this particular Ministry. This memorandum will develop our cooperation because it is our interest to have students and university graduates get such chance to help in projects that we have planned for the upcoming period.”

Through this MoU, the two institutions will be able to collaborate pro bono in research activities and to design joint research projects, projects in ICT, ICT strategies, etc. The MoU will enable joint organization of conferences, symposia, seminars, workshops and joint applying for funding to external parties. This MoU will also enable staff exchange between the two institutions.
