The Balkan Olympiad in Informatics finished

On Friday, 13 September 2013, the 21 Balkan Olympiad in Informatics (BOI) for high-school students finished. The Olympiad was organised by Association of Informatics Olympiad in BH in cooperation with International University of Sarajevo (IUS), sponsored by the City of Sarajevo. BOI has been held every year since 1993, BH being its host for the first time. Apart from participants from BH, the best high school students in informatics from Bulgaria, Greece, Cyprus, Macedonia, Moldavia, Romania, Serbia, Monte Negro, Croatia, Turkey and Tajikistan also took part.

Hristo Venev from Bulgaria had the best result at the competition, scoring maximum 600 points. Other gold medal winners are: Rares Buhai (Romania), Encho Mishinev (Bulgaria), Ivan Stošić (Serbia), marko Stanković (Serbia) and Yusuf Hakan Kalayci (Turkey).

Silver medal winners are: Dimitrije Erdeljan (Serbia), Momchil Peycev (Bulgaria), Mihai Popa (Romania), Radu Voroneau (Romania), Silviu Popesku (Romania), Alperen Yakut (Turkey) and Klimet Serafimov (Macedonia).

Bronze medal winners are: Semih Basrik (Turkey), marko Baković (Serbija), Bojan Serafimov (Macedonia), Hristan Hristov (Bulgaria), Rijad Muminović (BH), Muhammed Burak Burgul (Turkey), Michalis Psalios (Cyprus), Vasil Kuzevski (Macedonia), Luka Bulatović (Monte Negro) and Alexei Rusu (Moldavia.

Luka Bulatović form Monte Negro said the BOI is an excellent opportunity to show one`s talent and share knowledge with peers. Rijad Muminović, the winner of BH state competition and bronze medal winner of BOI said that knowledge is a great investment. "Knowledge is a great investment and the results will eventually show", Muminagić explained.

Professor at IUS, Haris Gavranović said that all those students who won a medal at this competition will have a chance to enter some of the world`s best universities.
