Ahmed Adžemović at Karolinska Institutet

Ahmed Adžemović,  undergraduate student of Genetics and Bioengineering at IUS, was awarded the prestigious undergraduate student scholarship, under the mentorship of Dr. Ayla Arslan. The prestigious scholarship is given to top 20 students in Europe and includes summer research in the field of Neuroscience in Karolinska Institutet (KI) in Stocholm, Sweden. Since 1901, the Nobel Assembly at KI has been selecting the Nobel laureates in Physiology or Medicine.

At the KI, Ahmed will have a chance to work on a project related to brain signaling via receptor-receptor interactions in the heteroreceptor complexes which may have a role in the neurobiology of Parkinson's disease, schizophrenia, and depression. Following his research, Ahmed is also invited to attend "Amgen Scholars Symposium", which will take place at the University of Cambridge, UK, from September 2 – 6. Thus, in the autumn of 2017, Ahmed will have the chance to present the findings of his summer research project from KI at the Cambridge University.
