Academic Lecture Delivered by Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH, Mr. Sven Alkalaj

International University of Sarajevo (IUS) organized an academic lecture on "Bosnia and Herzegovina's Foreign Policy" that was delivered by Mr. Sven Alkalaj, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Minister's academic lecture on Bosnia and Herzegovina's Foreign Policy, enriched with his professional and diplomatic experience, was well received by professors, students and distinguished guests from academic and non-academic institutions and organizations

This lecture was held at one of the leading private institutions of higher learning that has 750 students from more than 15 countries, 60 full-time professors and administrators, 34 part-time professors and a graduate program with Henderson State University. Minister Alkalaj gave a due credit to the university for such tremendous achievements and for its contributions to the development of Bosnia and Herzegovina as a whole.

The introductory note was given by Dr. Muhidin Mulalić, Coordinator of Academic Lecture Series Program who introduced Minister to the audience. Minister began his lecture emphasizing the historical roots and the development of Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Mr. Alkalaj stressed upon too on the present and future activities of his ministry. Special attention was given to recent success of Bosnia and Herzegovina with regards to the EU and NATO membership. Minister proudly articulated Stabilization Association Agreement with EU; Agreement on visa liberation with EU and intensive cooperation, and action plan and membership in NATO.

Minister emphasized Priorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina foreign policy that are: Preservation and protection of independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina within its internationally recognized borders; Full and consistent implementation of the General Peace Agreement (GPA); BIH inclusion into European integration processes; Participation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in multilateral activities, in particular, as part of the system of the United Nations (UN), the Council of Europe, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) and Promotion of Bosnia and Herzegovina as a partner in international economic relations, and promotion of the activities aiming at the admission of Bosnia and Herzegovina into the World Trade Organization (WTO).

Token of appreciation for honorable guest was given by Prof. Dr. Erturul Tacqin, the Rector of International University of Sarajevo.
