Academic Ejup Ganić meets with IUS Rector and students

Following the letter of support sent to him in May by the group of students gathered in the IUS Intercultural Communication Club, Mr. Ejup Ganić, former president of Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina visited International University of Sarajevo on November 4, 2010. Mr. Ganić was greeted by IUS Rector Prof. Dr. Hilmi Unlu, Faculty Deans and students in the Office of Rector, where he also received small tokens of appreciation for his visit to our University.

"I came here to pay respect to University leadership and students who gave me support" said Mr. Ganić who during this year went through difficult times. On March 1, 2010, Bosnian Independence Day, Mr. Ganić was arrested in London after Serbian judicial authorities issued an extradition warrant. He was released on July 27, 2010, with the judge saying the extradition proceedings were "brought and are being used for political purposes, and as such amount to the abuse" of the court.

During the visit of Mr. Ganić to International University of Sarajevo, there were also talks of the possible cooperation between Sarajevo School of Science and Technology (whose president Mr. Ganić is) and International University of Sarajevo.

"This school is very important. You can compete with others and set an example" said Mr. Ganić adding "We celebrate your success, but we will compete with you".

IUS Rector Prof. Dr. Unlu thanked Mr. Ganić for his visit and guided him through the premises of IUS Campus.
