The 6th Children's Festival held in Zenica

The manifestation "Children's Festival" was organized by the "Yunus Emre" Institute and the Association “Bridges of Friendship Association” in "Arena Husejin Smajlović" in Zenica for the sixth time in a row.

The festival was attended by more than 6,000 pupils who, within the project "My Choice is Turkish," learn Turkish language in elementary schools all over Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Within this project, the Turkish language, as a second language, is being taught in schools in seven cantons in Bosnia and Herzegovina since the school year 2011/2012. The project started with 1,100 pupils, but the number of students in the past school year (2016/2017) was increased to 8,500 students. About 6,000 children from 150 elementary schools and 45 cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina participated in the program, which marked the Turkish Children's Day celebration.

The International University of Sarajevo (IUS) supported the "Children's Festival" once more, and, like previous years, five certificates of scholarships were awarded in the amount of 75% to 100% discount on the price of annual tuition fees. Through the awarded scholarships, the International University of Sarajevo has once again emphasized and affirmed its commitment to promoting the development of education and social responsibility in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The children's festival in Zenica was attended by officials from BiH and Turkey, Turkish Ambassador to BiH Haldun Koc, representative of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Turkey, Chairman of the ZDK Assembly Jasmin Duvnjak and many others. As the representatives of the International University of Sarajevo, the festival was attended by acting Rector of IUS prof. Dr. Ahmet Yildirim and the Public Relations Office staff.
