Transforming Tourism Education: TEF Project Insights

As the TEF Project approaches its conclusion, this was a great opportunity to review the work completed thus far and outline the remaining tasks. The project leader, Apro Formazione, hosted the final transnational meeting of the TEF (Tourism Education Future) project, which took place in Alba last week.

For the remaining few months until the end of the project, final activities will be carried out for:

  • Online Contest Guide
  • Blended Skills Competition Guide
  • Skills Gap Analysis
  • Course Catalog and CVET Course
  • Dissemination and exploitation

During the transnational meeting, the consortium members had the chance to speak with Mr. Furio Bednarz, the external evaluator and expert for EU co-financed projects. In his analysis, Mr. Bednarz identified the TEF project's highs and lows, as well as the next steps that must be taken for the project to be successfully completed.

The TEF project accomplished several goals in less than two years of work: it mapped the needs of the tourism ecosystem, held several masterclasses elaborating on current trends in tourism, proposed several CVET courses, micro-credentials, and sectoral activities, highlighted the value of innovation in tourism education, and many more.

Above all, the TEF project enabled the connection and strengthening of ties between educational institutions from seven countries participating in the project and other institutions across the EU. It brought more innovative and stronger connections with industry, motivated students and teachers of vocational schools and centers to devote their time to this project, raised awareness and practice of sustainable tourism among future professionals, and more.

The highlights of the project are the Blended Skills Competition and the Online Contest, where the students showcased their talent, creativity, and enthusiasm.

The project ends in September of this year and opens the door for continued cooperation and new innovative ideas for the betterment of tourism education.

We thank Apro Formazione for the warm welcome and organization of the meeting, as well as for the organization of unforgettable cultural activities.
